8:57am Thursday 28th August 2008

A woman has died in mysterious circumstances in a house in Wood Green.

It is thought a traumatic brain injury killed 35-year-old Eser Ahmed last Wednesday.

She was found dead in her house in Woodridings Court, Crescent Road, more than 12 hours after she died in "unexplained" circumstances.

A post mortem gave the cause of death as a serious head injury at around 6.30pm last Wednesday.

However she was not found by police and paramedics until 11.30am the following day when they were called to the Wood Green address. Ms Ahmed was pronounced dead at her home.

The homicide and serious crime squad is investigating and officers are treating the death as unexplained. Police are now appealing to witnesses who may have seen what happened.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Richard Russell said: "We have spoken to a number of people who have shed some light on the circumstances of this incident, however we are keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area on that time and date who may have seen what happened or has information to contact us."

A 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with the suspicious death and has been bailed to return to a Haringey police station tomorrow.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 0207 321 7228, or to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
